Review Moderation
Every review submitted to Hosting Horizon is checked before it's published and counted toward a provider's Hosting Horizon Score. We reject or remove reviews that fall into any of the following categories:
- Spam and low-effort submissions — reviews with no meaningful content, copy-pasted text, or unrelated promotional links.
- Conflicts of interest — reviews written by employees, contractors, or affiliates of the provider being reviewed, or by direct competitors reviewing each other.
- Fake or incentivized reviews — reviews submitted in exchange for payment, discounts, free hosting, or any other consideration from the provider, and reviews that don't appear to come from a genuine customer.
- Abusive or unlawful content — hate speech, harassment, threats, defamatory claims presented as fact without support, or content that discloses another person's private information.
Moderation looks at the content and context of a submission — patterns like multiple reviews from the same source, unverifiable claims, or language that mirrors a provider's own marketing copy — rather than simply whether the review is positive or negative. Critical reviews are not treated differently from positive ones as long as they're genuine and follow these rules. Providers can publicly reply to reviews from their business dashboard, but they cannot edit or remove a review themselves.
