Our Mission
Choosing a web host shouldn't require a computer science degree or hours of guesswork. Hosting Horizon was built to give people a clear, honest starting point: a place where you can see how a hosting provider's actual customers rate it, compare plans and pricing side by side, and get straightforward answers to common hosting questions.
We don't run our own servers or resell hosting. Our job is research and organization — collecting what providers publish about their plans, gathering feedback from people who use those plans, and presenting it in a way that's easy to scan and compare.
How Reviews and Hosting Horizon Score Work
Every provider on Hosting Horizon has a profile page built around user reviews. Visitors who have used a host can submit a review rating five criteria — Performance, Reliability, Pricing, Support, and Features — each on a 1 to 5 scale, along with written comments. Reviews go through moderation before they're published; we don't publish every submission (see our Rating Methodology for what gets rejected and why).
From approved reviews, we calculate a Hosting Horizon Score for each provider automatically. Each of the five criteria uses a Bayesian average, which means a provider with only a handful of reviews starts close to a neutral baseline rather than swinging wildly from one or two opinions, while a provider with a long track record of reviews sees its score shaped much more directly by what customers actually say. Recent reviews also carry more weight than older ones, so a score reflects a provider's current service more than what it looked like years ago. The Hosting Horizon Score itself is the average of the five criteria. Nobody can pay to raise it, and the formula is identical for every provider. Independence and How We Make Money
Hosting Horizon earns money through affiliate commissions: when you click certain outbound links to a provider (these go through a /go/ redirect) and sign up, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how most free comparison and review sites operate, and it's how we keep Hosting Horizon free to use.
Affiliate relationships never influence a provider's Hosting Horizon Score. Ratings come only from the review formula described above. A provider that pays us nothing can outrank one that pays a commission, and vice versa, purely based on what reviewers say. You can read more in our Advertising Disclosure.
Plans and Pricing Data
Plan details, pricing, and specs shown on Hosting Horizon are collected from providers' public websites and are refreshed periodically. Hosting companies change their offers often, so we always recommend confirming current pricing and terms directly on the provider's site before you buy.
